 Utilize the University Learning Center - Old Chemistry Building Room 214.
 Choose general education courses for spring.
 Decided students choose major courses.
 Undecided students, choose exploratory courses.
 Get involved in Smith Project or other activities through CATS PD.
 Register through your advisor for spring semester.
 Meet with CATS Academics for further advice and direction.

SEMESTER 2 FRESHMAN

 Review academic progress with advisor.
 Attend a Career Planning Orientation - Mandatory. Sign up in January in Bear   Down Gym.
 Explore / confirm Interests, values, skills.
 Investigate part-time jobs, internships, co-ops and volunteer experience.

  - Explore specific careers through resources in CATS PD Office.   - Seek advice and information through academic departments.
  - Conduct informational interviews
  - Confirm major / career choices
  - Choose General Education courses from academic plan for Fall     Semester.
  - Register for fall through your advisor on campus.

 Look into summer employment, volunteer experience, internships, or possible summer school classes.


1st SEMESTER SOPHOMORE

Assessment and Exploration
 Review academic progress with advisor.
 Develop a systematic career development process.
 Learn about Occupations
  - Academic departments
  - Career Services Library / DISCOVER / CATS P.D. Office
  - The UA Alumni Career Connections via WWW.
 Develop Career decision - making skills and setting goals.
 Determine future educational needs for career choice by talking to    professional in field and college advisors, visiting the Career Information    Center, UA Main Library and academic departments.
 Continue Informational Interviewing and Networking.
Attend Career Fairs

 Research career options by attending a career - related experience orientation   and campus career fairs.
 Develop personal acquaintances with faculty, staff, counselors, and    administrators. Ask for information about student clubs, and organizations, and   about opportunities for internships or on campus activities to supplement your   course work.
 Register for spring classes through your advisor on campus.

2ND SEMESTER SOPHOMORE
 Review academic progress with advisor.
 Assess skills and knowledge in preparation for career related experience.
 Look into summer jobs, internships or volunteer experience.
 Register for fall through advisor on campus.

 Look into summer employment, volunteer experience, or internships.
 Develop a resume and compare qualifications with job announcements.


1ST SEMESTER JUNIOR
Career Decisions and Reality Testing

 Review academic progress with advisor.
 Register for Upper-Division Writing Proficiency exam - Modern languages 380
 Develop presentation of employability skills by attending career workshops on   resume writing, interviewing, and doing a job search or see Becky in CATS PD.
 Attend career fairs on campus to learn : What employers are looking for in future  employees ; what types of jobs are offered by employers ; what qualifications   are needed for admission to specific graduate programs ; what career    experience I can obtain.
 Reassess career goals. Begin developing network.
 Pursue major course work outlined in academic plan.
 Join organizations in your chosen field.
 Register for Spring semester through advisor on campus.

2ND SEMESTER JUNIOR
 Review academic progress with advisor ; Pursue major course work
 Develop a file of career - related projects and  references for graduate school or  a professional position.
 Reassess career goals, including alternate career plans.
 Attend a job / graduate school search orientation.
 Identify and read professional journals and newsletters to become acquainted   with the jargon and ongoing development in your field.
 Apply for graduation at the Office of Undergraduate Degree Certification.
 Register for fall through advisor on campus.
 Attend summer school as needed.
 Obtain a summer job, internship or volunteer experience.
 Enroll for graduate school admissions test preparatory class.
 Take graduate school admissions test.
 Update your resume. 


1st SEMESTER SENIOR
Job Search or Grad School Campaign

 Review academic progress with advisor.
 Register for on campus interviewing through Career Center.
 Research graduate school information ; Apply to graduate school
 Attend workshops on interviewing, job search strategies resumes, etc - see   CATS PD or Career Center.
 Select faculty and administrators you desire to act as references.
 Research employer information;Conduct more informational interviews; network
 Begin job search.
 Register for Spring semester through advisor on campus.

2ND SEMESTER SENIOR
 Review academic progress with advisor ; Complete course requirements.
 Apply to graduate school.
 Discuss career opportunities and plans with faculty, counselors, and    professionals in your field ; continue job search.
 Complete file of career -related projects.
 Graduate and have career alternatives!!!!
