Dr. Maribel Alvarez and I were awarded an LGBT Institute's Research Cluster Fund for the Oral History Group
All seven of my MAS 587 Chicana Gender Perspectives graduate students’ final papers were accepted for presentation at the MALCS Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah; MALCS = Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social (Women Active in Letters and Social Change)
My 2 undergraduate education internship students, Monique Becerril and Shalom Verdugo, graduated May ‘08
I presented my research on mujerismo (womanism) at the National Association of Chicana/Chicano Studies in March ‘08. The panel I organized included top scholars in my interdisciplinary area, among them, Dr. Cindy Cruz and Dr. Alejandra Elenes
I initiated the Día de los Muertos event and the End of The Year Student Awards for the Mexican American Studies & Research Center
