2007-2008 Academic Year as a Postdoctoral Fellow
- I was awarded an SBSRI Faculty Summer Research Grant for the Latina Literacy Project. The grant funds one graduate student to get experience with field research
- Dr. Maribel Alvarez and I were awarded an LGBT Institute's Research Cluster Fund for the Oral History Group
- All seven of my MAS 587 Chicana Gender Perspectives graduate students’ final papers were accepted for presentation at the MALCS Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah; MALCS = Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social (Women Active in Letters and Social Change)
- My 2 undergraduate education internship students, Monique Becerril and Shalom Verdugo, graduated May ‘08
- I presented my research on mujerismo (womanism) at the National Association of Chicana/Chicano Studies in March ‘08. The panel I organized included top scholars in my interdisciplinary area, among them, Dr. Cindy Cruz and Dr. Alejandra Elenes
- I initiated the Día de los Muertos event and the End of The Year Student Awards for the Mexican American Studies & Research Center
