                I can be reached at 520 591-7410.  These days I am an independent writer based in Tucson, Arizona, working mainly for Research Corporation and the BIO5 Institute at the University of Arizona. I am on the board of CEDO, a marine and desert conservation and study lab in Rocky Point, Sonora, Mexico.

                My resume can be briefly summarized:  The Miami Herald, The Associated Press, The Los Angeles Times (summers), The New York Times from 1996 to 2007. 

I have taught in many places, notably at the University of Arizona and at  the University of Jos, in Nigeria, and Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, and I was head of the journalism program at the American University in Cairo for two years.  I have held workshops and lectures at Columbia University Biosphere 2 campus and at Stanford, where I was part of William Woo’s one-year graduate program in journalism.
