About Me

I am a PhD candidate in philosophy at the University of Arizona.  My main interests are in ethics and epistemology, and I also am interested in issues in applied ethics and political philosophy.  I am the only person I know who enjoys teaching logic.

Currently I am completing my dissertation, in which I argue that there is a role for epistemology in developing a conception of eudaimonia, and a role for eudaimonia in addressing certain problems in epistemology.

Other work

My recent paper ‘A eudaimonist approach to the problem of significance’ is currently under review.  (Please email me if you’d like to check it out.)  I am scheduled to comment on ‘Testimony, Epistemic Egoism, and Epistemic Credit’ at the upcoming Pacific APA.

Recent presentations

This past summer I presented my paper ‘Expanding the Scope of Epistemology’ at the International Conference on Epistemic Virtue and Value in Bled, Slovenia (where the above photograph was taken by fellow epistemologist Sarah Wright).  In the spring, I presented my paper ‘Goodness and Epistemology’ at the International Conference on Epistemic Goodness at the University of Oklahoma.

Just for kicks

I love exploring the place I’m living, and in Tucson Arizona, that has meant harvesting prickly pear cacti, picking apples in Wilcox, juggling in the day of the dead parade, cheering our very own Tucson Toros and Tucson Saddletramps, eating all the pie I can at the annual pie party,  the Bisbee stair climb, El Tour de Tucson, biking the trails at fantasy island (and being able to commute to school by bike every day--hooray!) and occasionally catching a glimpse of some coyote and javelinas (hopefully not in the same place).
