Welcome!

I'm a post-doctoral research associate with the Center for Insect Sciences at the University of Arizona. I've recently finished my doctorate in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior at the University of Minnesota.

The primary focus of my research is investigating the role of environmental variability in the evolution and ecological function of cognition (e.g. learning, memory, and decision making). How do animals track change in their environments? When is tracking a good strategy? Even more broadly, I'm interested in the interplay between evolution and cognitive mechanisms. To answer these questions I use a mix of theory and experiments, and work on time scales from single foraging bouts to experimental evolution studies across many generations.
