Documenting, Describing, and Revitalizing Our Languages

Home
Welcome!

This page evolved from a National Science Foundation grant (NSF proposal 0549189) to the American Indian Language Development Institute (AILDI) in 2006. This project titled, “Increasing Competitive Research among Tribal Communities for Documenting Endangered Languages” supported community members from a number of different tribes through fellowships. The ‘NSF Fellows’, as the selected students were called, attended AILDI in the summer of 2006 where they took a course of study in grant writing and language documentation.

This website is intended to extend the learning experience of those NSF Fellows, to build and maintain competitive research knowledge and opportunities for Indigenous students and community members and to further the goals of language documentation and subsequent revitalization in Indigenous communities.
