Removing SSH Profiles

Revised May 30 2002
This webpage describes the steps you need to take to remove unwanted SSH Profiles with Windows. Profiles contain the values, like Host Name and User ID, that you use when logging into a secure machine. You can add and edit them using SSH but you need to use Explorer to delete them.
Windows 2000
  • Under Windows Explorer on your C-drive open Documents and Settings
  • Open the folder with your username, like User.USER
  • Open the Application Data folder
  • Open the SSH folder
  • Use the Delete button on the menu bar to remove the unwanted profiles
  • You must exit your U-System session and SSH, then log back in again for the deleted profiles to be gone from the Profiles pulldown

All Windows Versions

Use Search to find files with ".ssh2" in their filenames and remove the unwanted profiles. (The first part of an SSH profile's filename is the name you gave SSH to identify this profile, like "usystem" or "W3"; the second part is a filetype of ".ssh2".)
