Volume I

EXCEL CHAPTER 2

Gaining Proficiency: Copying, Formatting, and Isolating Assumptions

(Volume I, second chapter on the section with green page number flags)

 

·        Do Knowledge Test K14 at the beginning of the class. Do Skill test S14 “Excel Chapter 2” near the end of class. Make sure “S02” is used as the ID for the skill test. 

 

1.    Read pages 42 to 46

2.    Do Hands-on Exercise 1: Creating a Workbook, steps 1 to 8

a.     Step 3: Add your name, on cell A2

b.     Step 7: Print the Worksheet, make sure you can read the values on all cells, and that your printout fit on one page. Hand in your printout as part of your assignment 14.

3.    Read pages 53 to 58

4.    Do Hands-on Exercise 2: Formatting a Worksheet, steps 1 to 9

a.     Step 7: Instead of your Social Security Number enter 123-45-6789.

b.     Step 9: Print both the Worksheet and the Formulas, make sure you can read the values on all cells, and that your printouts fit on one page. Hand in your printouts as part of your assignment 14.

5.    Read pages 68 and 69

6.    Do Hands-on Exercise 3: Excel 2000 and the Internet, steps 1 to 5

a.     Step 5: If you use Internet Explorer to open the file you must specify Open as Web Folder before you can open the file. Print your Web View, hand in your printout as part of your assignment 14.

7.    Do problems 1 and 4 on pages 78 to 81

a.     Problem 1:

i.       Difference = Asking Price - Selling Price

ii.       Commission = Selling Price * Commission %

iii.       Print both the Worksheet and the Formulas, make sure you can read the values on all cells, and that your printouts fit on one page. Add your name at the top of the table. Hand in your printouts as part of your assignment 14.

b.     Problem 4:

i.     You should create the multiplication table with only one formula that you can copy to all calculated cells. Add your name and format the table as shown in figure 2.13.

ii       Print both the Worksheet and the Formulas, make sure you can read the values on all cells, and that your printouts fit on one page. Hand in your printouts as part of your assignment 14.

 

8.    Staple and turn in your printouts. Use this sheet as cover adding your section number, name and computer number.
