Dr. Sean
Dessureault is a member of the University of Arizona's Mining
and Geological Engineering Department and currently holds the position
of Assistant Professor. His research is related to the effective use of
information systems in mines which includes disciplines such as data mining,
systems engineering, and business process design. He founded a consulting company that provides corprorate IT strategy, Data Warehouse design & implementation, and automation strategy for for some of the world's largest mining companies. He is one of the founders for the University of Arizona's chapter of Engineers Without Borders.
He teaches Sustainable Development, Management Operations Technology and Equipment Operations Technology
to senior level students. He teaches a professional short-course series on the effective use of modern IT in mining both nationally and internationally. This website is designed to provide some background
of expertise, links to teaching resources, and key strategies for research
and industry-interaction.

MGE 422 - Engineering Sustainable Development Also listed as 522 (graduate section),this guides student into learning the concepts of sustainable development, especially focused on engineering projects. Also listed as 515 (graduate section) and GEE 415 (geological engineering),this course looks at all processes used to break rock from the ground. This includes cutting machines, along with drilling and blasting. MGE 407 - Equipment Operations Technology Also listed as 507 (graduate section) this course looks at all soft (management, operations research, software, IT, etc...) and hard (equipment, automation, etc...) technology needed to design materials handling systems in modern mines. It is applicable to all mining, civil, and industrial engineers. MGE 409 - Management Operations Technology Also listed
as 508 (graduate section) this course gives students a background in Operations
Research, accounting, information technology and databases, spreadsheets,
strategic management, and personal growth tools using applied examples.
