In completing Assignment Three, address the following issues:
Reinventing government encompasses numerous approaches directed at various aspects of government operations and activities. Select one aspect of one of the general reinvention concepts, such as quality management, alternative mechanisms, partnerships, community based strategies, and so forth. Describe what the concept entails. Explain how it represents a new approach for government. Explain how it is similar to how government traditionally operates. In other words, what is new and what is old about the concept.
Explain how the federal government intends to implement the concept. That is, in the National Performance Review, either Phase I or II, what actions has the government taken to adopt and implement the concept.
Describe a specific instance of the concept in practice. You might want to check out the case studies and other Web sites listed on the Alliance for Reinventing Government page for help on this one.
