For a variety of reasons, I am fond of Mickey Mouse. Although I am not a
serious collector of Mickey Mouse memorabilia, over the years many friends
have filled a corner of my office with choice trinkets. And, I must
confess, there are a few things I encountered at the swap meet--e.g.,
Mickey Mouse radios--that I could not resist buying.
I have been a stamp collector since I was nine years old, but seldom spend
time on my collection. My favorites are 19th-century European stamps.
Since the mid-1980's, I have had a passion for collecting pocket radios
with vacuum tubes. These products were made from about 1945 to 1960 (see
my radio book).
Finally, because old pocket radios are becoming scarce at the swap meet, I
have begun collecting old electronic, hand-held calculators. These
were sold in the 1970s and have LED displays. Feel free to mail me your
old ones.
