Exam 2 will focus primarily, but not necessarily exclusively, on material covered since exam 1. The final exam will focus primarily, but not necessarily exclusively, on material covered since exam 2. Material from reading assignments & lecture will be on the exams.

Making up exams?
If you know that you will have to miss an exam, you must contact the instructor or the TA IN ADVANCE (BEFORE THE EXAM DAY!) so that arrangements can be made for you to take the exam at a different time. If an exam is missed due to an emergency, proof of the event from an appropriate authority figure will be required. Do not make airline reservations to leave town before the final exam date! You will not be allowed to make up an exam because you are leaving for vacation. Schedule your vacations around your course requirements.

Reading:
You are expected to do the reading assignments BEFORE the dates indicated on the schedule below. This is important, because material from reading assignments will be covered on quizzes & exams, even if it's not covered in lectures.

Quizzes:
There will be a quiz at the end of class every Tuesday starting on the 3rd day of class, Tues., Aug. 29th. The quiz will cover assigned reading & material from lecture. A quiz may not be made up if it is missed.

Experimental project, worth 56 points (click here for more details):

Part 2: Methods section 13 Thurs., Oct. 5

Attendance
You should attend every class. Every Tuesday, there will be a quiz in class which can not be made up. Material from all lectures will be covered on the Tuesday quizzes as well as on the exams. If you miss class, it is your responsibility to get the notes & find out about any important announcements from someone else in the class.

Typing
All work besides in-class quizzes & exams must be typed in 12 point font (except for research posters which will have larger font). Handwritten work will not be accepted. For directions, hours, & other info about computer labs on campus, go to http://www.u.arizona.edu/ic/mvl/ccitlabs/ or ask me for a Computing on Campus booklet. Except for the Introductory Assignment, all work must be turned in as a hard copy print-out. Do not submit your assignments via email or floppy disk.

Late work policy
All work must be turned in by the beginning of class on the day it's due. Late work will not be accepted, except in the case of an emergency if you have proof from an appropriate authority figure. When working on assignments, always save your work often, & make a back up copy of your file often, for example on a floppy disk. If you are only saving your work on a floppy disk, then copy the file onto 2 floppy disks. Floppy disks often stop working.

Classroom Behavior
Cell phones must be turned off during class. Please do not talk to other students while I am talking to you.

Academic Integrity
Cheating, plagiarism, & other academic dishonesty will not be tolerated. See the University of Arizona's Code of Academic Integrity in the General Catalog for more details.
