INTRODUCING THE CLAMOR ARCHIVE PROJECT

Small-press magazines fall somewhere between mainstream mass media magazines and more ephemeral (and rare) print media like zines. Often publishing thousands of copies per issue and enjoying widespread newsstand distribution, small-press titles do not get included in special collections, but may fall below the radar of large-scale periodical digitization projects. Clamor Archive Project will use Clamor Magazine, a seven year-old small press magazine, as a cornerstone project to create a comprehensive digital archive of the magazine and related print and born-digital materials. The collection may serve as a model for replication by other small-press magazines or create an infrastructure within which hundreds of peer magazines may be preserved.
