Helen
L. Daly
(formerly
Helen L. Habermann)

I’m a fifth-year philosophy graduate student at the
My areas of specialization are metaphysics and the philosophy of
language; in particular, I like to think about vagueness. Apart from my
specialization, I’m also deeply interested in virtue ethics, in large part
because I’m convinced that professor Julia
Annas is one of the most admirable people I’ve met, and so I think her
arguments about how to live well warrant serious consideration. Other
particular philosophical issues that keep me awake at night include what the
numbers are (and what they aren’t, of course) and how to make sense of
causation. I also find myself fascinated by whatever Terry Horgan is working on,
since he’s up to something new and brilliant every time I talk to him.
When not working, I play outside in the gorgeous Tucson sunshine,
sing old sea shanties, and mix drinks for friends.
