Biographical Information

Elena Plante is a Professor and Head of the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. Dr. Plante's lab supports behavioral studies of language and learning, and neuroimaging studies that examine issues related to normal language processing or brain correlates of language disorders. She has been conducting behavioral and neuroimaging research for over 20 years. Her work is currently funded by grants from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and the National Institute on Aging. Ongoing neuroimaging research involves analysis of structural MRI scans, diffusion tensor images (DTI), and fMRI studies of language in normal and impaired subjects. In addition to collaborations with faculty and students in many other departments at the University of Arizona, the Plante lab has ongoing collaborations with investigators at the University of Bergen (Norway) and the Imaging Research Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She reviews regularly for several journals and for the National Institutes of Health.

Biographical Information

Rebecca Vance is a certified speech-language pathologist who has been engaged in research for the past twenty years. She manages daily laboratory operations and oversees data collection both on campus and at off-site locations. She is actively involved with student research training and regularly contributes to laboratory publications.
