I am a PhD
student in the Hydrology and Water Resources program at the University
of Arizona with a minor in Global
Change. Currently, I am working as a research assistant with Dr. Juan
Valdes. I focus on the use of satellite obtained precipitation data for flood forecasting in large basins located in developing regions. The study area is the La Plata River Basin, the second largest river basin in South America covering approximately 3.2 x 106 km2. The water resources of the basin maintain one of the most densely populated regions in South America and natural fluctuations in precipitation and streamflows deeply affect the economic and social equilibrium of the region. contact: edemaria at hwr.arizona.edu |
