Position: LIBRARY DIRECTOR Opening Date: March 30, 2000 Closing Date: Until Filled Salary: Based on TMCC salary scale. $34,000 Masters level. (Masters preferred.) Qualifications: 1) Degree in Library Science, 2) Librarian Certified, 3) Training in Library Science Technology, 4) Experience in supervision, and 5) Three years minimum experience in library services. Major Responsibilities: The Library Director will increase the amount of culturally relevant resources responsive to the needs of the tribal population. This will require the Director to deliver instruction and support of knowledge via new technologies and methods while continuing to deliver and support more traditional modes of scholarly communication. The Library Director will be responsible for annually updating the TMCC Library Plan, as well as carrying out its goals and objectives. The library holding will promote lifelong learning with a focus on the challenges of higher education. The Director will make library services accessible to all tribal members, and employ a qualified and knowledgeable staff. The Library Director may be required to demonstrate skills in the interview process. Physical examination may be required. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Required Duties: A. Supervise the library staff; B. Organize the Library and make it user friendly; C. Implement current library technology; D. Ability to perform maintenance on technology system; E. Communicate with all clients; F. Provide a clean, safe and friendly environment G. Research and compile tribal history; H. Teach patrons how to use and have input into the library; I. Provide a media center; J. Secure facilities and holdings; K. Provide outreach services to better serve the predominately rural tribal population; L. Provide literacy skill improvement opportunities via computer assisted instruction; a M. Organize a community advisory board for the library Supervision: The Library Director position is under the direct supervision of the Dean of Instruction.
