Linguistics Lecture Series Presentation

Dr. Andrew Lotto was recently invited to speak at the UA Linguistics Colloquium.  The title of his March 14, 2008 talk was “Relating phonetic categorization to spoken language perception: Sometimes a [ga] is only a [ga].”  Links to the podcast and accompanying PowerPoint slides are provided. 

 

 

2008 ACSS Meeting

The 2nd Auditory Cognitive Science Society meeting took place on January 11-12, 2008.  This year’s 2-day conference was a huge success.  If you have questions/comments regarding past or future ACSS meetings, please contact Sarah Sullivan.

 

 

Article Addresses Need for an Auditory Cognitive Science

Dr. Holt and Dr. Lotto were recently invited to contribute to Current Directions in Psychological Science.  The article, which is now available (Holt & Lotto 2008 pdf) is entitled “Speech perception within an auditory cognitive science framework.”

 

 


 

 

 

 

Post-Doc Positions

The University of Arizona Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is offering two teaching postdoctoral fellowships. 

 

The two positions will be filled by August 2008, and are available as soon as January 2008.  The fellowship includes salary and benefits. Candidates in any area of specialization within Audiology or Hearing Science will be considered, with priority given to those whose research offers opportunities for interaction with department faculty.  A background in clinical in Audiology or applied research in Audiology is also preferred.  An earned Ph.D. is required.

 

Responsibilities will include conducting a research program consistent with the candidate’s area of expertise, collaborating with departmental faculty on research, participating in cross-disciplinary opportunities available on campus, and teaching approximately two courses per year at the undergraduate or graduate level.
